Open a local dev server on your phone, or share it publicly
Testing on a real phone shouldn’t mean typing an IP address. Showing a client shouldn’t mean deploying.
In short
For a server listening on your network, the inspector shows a QR code of your Mac’s address and port; scan it with the phone’s camera on the same Wi-Fi. For anyone else, Share via cloudflared (or ngrok) starts a tunnel, copies the public HTTPS link and stops it when you quit Portlivo.

Or anywhere, via Cloudflare / ngrok

On your phone, same network
Servers bound to every interface carry a network badge, and their inspector shows a QR code. Most dev servers listen on localhost only, so start them with the host flag first:
npm run dev -- --host # Vite
php artisan serve --host=0.0.0.0
next dev -H 0.0.0.0Anywhere, with a public link
- Portlivo uses the tunnel tool you already have: cloudflared first (quick tunnels need no account), then ngrok (run
ngrok config add-authtokenonce). - When the link is ready it’s copied to the clipboard and a notification offers Open in Browser.
- Shared servers carry a globe badge. Stop Sharing ends the tunnel, and quitting, logging out or restarting ends them all.
brew install cloudflaredQuestions people ask
- Does it send my site through Portlivo’s servers?
- No. Portlivo has no servers. The tunnel runs from cloudflared or ngrok on your Mac to Cloudflare or ngrok.
- Why is there no QR code for my server?
- It’s listening on localhost only, so your phone couldn’t reach it anyway. Restart it with the host flag above.
